The Seal Center of the Marine Station of the Institute of Oceanography of the University of Gdańsk - a sealarium constituting part of the scientific and research facility - the Marine Station of the Institute of Oceanography of the University of Gdańsk located in Hel on the Seaside Boulevard.
The sealarium consists of a complex of three breeding pools, several small separate pools (for young and sick individuals requiring rehabilitation) and a teaching and laboratory building with a seminar room and laboratories. The facility conducts scientific activities aimed at restoring the gray seal colony in the southern Baltic Sea.
It is a major tourist attraction in Hel - at the turn of the 20th and 21st centuries it was visited by approximately 300,000 people. tourists annually.
The sealarium is maintained by voluntary contributions, EU subsidies, contributions from the University of Gdańsk, ticket sales and a gift shop.
